What Type of Electrical Enclosures Are Junction Boxes?

Electrical junction boxes house electrical connections for the purpose of protecting the connections themselves from tampering and for protecting the operators required to service and maintain the connections. Junction boxes can have what are called “knockouts”, which are partially punched opening which can be detached allowing for conduits, connectors, and cables to be placed inside. Junction boxes are also known as street cabinets or serving area interfaces.

Applications:

The Continuous Hinge “SJB” Junction Box Type 12 offers seamlessly welded corners, external screw clamps that are quick and easy to operate, external mounting feet, and weld nuts that provide different internal mounting options. The “SJB” Junction Box is intended for electrical control enclosures, terminal wiring, and electrical junction boxes. This junction box will protect against dirt, dust, oil and water.

Finish:

The “SJB” Junction Box has a stainless steel brushed finish, carbon Steel housing and doors (304-316L), ANSI 61 gray powder paint, a powder paint over phosphate surface, and an optional mounting panel.

Applications:

The Steeline Continuous Hinge “SJB” Junction Box is intended for use outside in corrosive and non-corrosive environments. If you are looking to protect your equipment from climate, heat, various liquids and contaminants, Steeline’s Junction Box 4 and 4X will fit your enclosure needs. This junction box has smooth ground seams and external screw clamps that are quick and easy to operate.

Finish:

The “SJB” Junction Box Type 4 & 4X was made with a #4, stainless steel brushed finish, carbon steel housing and doors (304-316L), exterior and interior (steel) ANSI 61 gray powder paint, a powder paint over phosphate surface, and optional mounting panel.

Applications:

The “SJB” Continuous Hinge “SJB” Junction Box is intended for both indoor and outdoor usage in corrosive and non-corrosive environments. 4 and 4X enclosures are intended for instrument housings, electrical control enclosures, terminal wiring boxes and electrical junction boxes. If equipment is consistently exposed to water, harmful chemicals, contaminants and liquids, this junction box is intended to protection the equipment under these circumstances.

Finish:

Door and housing are built from carbon steel with exterior and interior surfaces painted in ANSI 61 textured Gray. Optional mounting panel available.
